1984- On the way to REC, Calicut for admission to BTech course. Noticed the patients near Calicut Medical College. My mind whispered. Something to be done for this weaker section of the society.

Years passed. On the way to my college and back to home, passing by the side of Calicut Medical College, the same scene appeared… Later, while studying for MTech, at REC Calicut, there was no difference in the scene. History was repeating.

2014- When Mr. Sudheer Ahamed, an active member of the “helping hands“, a charity organization, contacted me with a proposal to construct a shelter home for the patients with kidney failure, cancer etc. for residing nearby the premises of the medical college hospital for frequent consultations with the doctors and for the clinical observations, I was surprised to see that Allah is opening the door in front of me to contribute something to the society. My apprehension was how to raise the amount of 8 crores for the work.

I remember the day, when we first discussed the structural aspects of the building with Architects M/s Nazer Associates, Calicut. A group of young, dynamic team of “helping hands” was also there for the discussion. As the ideas of helping hands and the concept of the architect worked together, the steep sloped hilly terrain become a magnificent structure with 4 floors above and 3 floors below the ground level. Structural design was the one optimizing both the economy and strength. A small water source met below the foundation at bottom most floor kept as such. By the grace of Allah, it served the full water requirement for the building construction and hope it will meet the needs of the inhabitants.

Now, after five years, I am very much happy to see the dreams of helping hands are fulfilled. Whenever, meeting these glittering jewels, they used to talk about progress of this prestigious work, their future plans etc. I realize that the youngsters behind “helping hands” were working hard all the time to make it a great success. I am sure that the team will achieve their goal. Praying Allah to give strength to their hands, to overcome all barriers on their path in future for the smooth operation.
